周期が規則的でも、排卵の日は月によってずれます。尿のホルモンで排卵を確かめた研究では、妊娠しやすい時期が周期の 10〜17 日目にすべて入っていた女性は、およそ 3 割でした。排卵した後の黄体期がおよそ１４日間で一定であることから、「周期の日数から 14 を引いた日が排卵日」という数え方は便利なめやすですが、排卵から次の月経までの日数にも人による差があります。
